Virgin America: Let VA Fly

7 Feb

I’ve long been a fan and frequent traveler on SWA (Southwest Airlines) flying out of Dallas’ convenient Love Field. The airline has inspired many entrepreneurs and more than a couple of airline upstarts. Their founding CEO, Herb Kelleher is the iconic type that changes industries, much like Steve Jobs and Sir Richard Branson. Branson, is of course an investor in Virgin America, the new U.S. carrier ready to fly out of San Francisco’s airport (SFO). They say they’re ready to fly but FAA approval is still pending due to Branson’s considerable stake in the venture disallowed under U.S. law as a foreign national of the U.K.

While I highly doubt they’d go about buying an Airbus 300 fleet without certainty of getting approval, those grounded jets are no good for the bottom line or travelers held hostage at SFO by the less, ahem, innovative and less friendly traditional carriers. I’m not much of an online activist but I did manage to swiftly sign the petition and invite a few buddies who travel frequently to do the same. Watch the video tour of the new jet and you might be encouraged to do the same. Let VA fly!
