I was, as usual, drooling in anticpation of another addition to my web2.0/social bookmarking/tagging life: FLOCK. So, the golden ticket for beta testing this new app was very welcome! I’ve been using it for just a few days now and have been pleased. It’s better OSX citizen than previous Firefox experiences and the extra features for blogging, Flickr, and del.icio.us tagging are growing on me. The tightly integrated WordPress.com blogging will surely swell the accounts on that nascent service also. I feel pain for newbie non-techie bloggers who ask me how to:

  • setup a blog (Typepad or Blogger or WordPress?)
  • pictures – what is Flickr? can’t I use Kodak….
  • what’s this del.icio.us business anyway and why would I want to “share”

I hope Flock will ilicit a eureka moment for the next wave of bloggers. Now, if I can just get a few more Safari conveniences + greasemonkey scripts working this will be my primary environment. Kudos to Team Flock!

It looks like Flock has finally landed. Thanks to Colin from TheUberGeeks for giving me the “scoop.” You can also see what Scott Jarkoff has to say about Flock in his review and also Even Eckard mentioned his thoughts. Also, thanks to Bryan Veloso for suggesting the “Flying with the Flock” title. Very snazzy. Anyways, there is a lot going on in Flock, so lets get started. First off, for those of you that don’t know, Flock is a new browser that is being developed that is to open a whole new world of browsing the web. Integrated with del.icio.us, Flickr, and other tools such as writing to your blog. Sort of a “social browser,” if you will. Now, lets take a look at it.
